Established in 1865, the Sparta Fire Department consists of 27 paid-on-call members, and one paid, full-time Fire Chief. The department responds to an average of 100 calls per year, consisting of, but not limited to: residential, commercial, vehicle and other property fires, field/brush fires, automatic alarms, and various rescue and extrication incidents. The department also participates in many civic functions in support of the community.
